Today, started out pretty much like usual. We got up, went outside, got a treat, and took a nap while Mom was on a phone call. After she was done, we got to do what we love to do. Ruben sat on top of the couch and just looked out the window and I snuggled up with Mom, while she worked on her computer.
When Mom was done working, well, things were different. All of a sudden she started packing up our beds and blankets, food bowls, medicine, toys, food, treats... AND our pen. What is happening here. So, Mom tells us we get to go on vacation and stay with our surrogate family.
Oh boy! We get to spend time playing with our friends, Molly, Lucas and Tucker. It's a little intimidating when we first get there. All three of them get pretty excited when we arrive, so it's a little chaotic for awhile. At first, all we want to do is climb into Dad or Mom's arms and hope that they take us with them when they leave. Once they leave, we quickly remember that we do actually like it there.
Molly is a funny one. She does some crazy stuff and has people cracking up all the time. Tucker is the baby. He's only about a year old and still very, very clumsy. We watched him do a face plant into the stairs when running up the deck stairs. It's a wonder he didn't knock himself out. Lucas is the oldest one, about the same age as Ruben. They've known each other since they were pups.
Their Mom & Dad are so nice. They treat us like one of their own. We're going to have fun on our little vacation... I'm just sure of it.
The silly (and sometimes, downright crazy) antics of a Havanese named Sabrina Faire... from her perspective.

Spa Day...
Today was spa day. For me, spa day is the same thing as "torture" day. First we have to go for a car ride. That always makes me nervous, but, at least I didn't puke in Mom's car today. Whew!
Then we get dropped off at the Paw Spa. Amanda & Marjorie are very nice... Ruben & I just don't like anyone combing our hair. We are subjected to all sorts of things that would not be comfortable for most people. Does the term "do I know you" mean anything to you. I'll just leave the details to your imagination.
After enduring that four-letter word... B-A-T-H, we ended up silky smooth and fluffy. The end result is good, but I don't like the steps it takes to get there.
After Mom & Dad picked us up... Ruben & I were completely wiped out. A good long nap that pretty much rolled into bed time. Ahhhh... we smell gooooooood!

A trip...
This afternoon, Mom & Dad strapped on our harnasses and told us we were going bye-bye. I never know whether I should get excited about that. Especially when I hear the words "doctor" and "shot".
Well, you guessed it. Ruben & I had to go to the doctor today for our annual check-ups. Come to find out, I wasn't even due for mine yet. Not until August! And, somehow, I had to go today too.
The doctor lady is pretty nice... but I'm never quite sure what she's going to do. She likes to listen to my heart with this stetho something and she pokes and squishes me all over. What's up with that?
I got my Rabies shot, so I'm good for that one for another 3 years. Yay! Then she checked my ears. I swear Ruben started to laugh... really, he did. When he heard that I had to have my ears cleaned out by a technician too. He has to go through that a couple of times a year, but I've never had to do that.
He's kind of a big baby about going to the doctor. My Mom tells me that I'm much braver than he is. Ruben's her scared little chicken. Ha! Ha!
I can't say that I enjoyed the treatment, but it wasn't as bad as Ruben makes you think. He turns into such a Mama's boy when he's scared. Chicken!
We both have to take some medicine for awhile to clear up our ear infections. Guess that means we'll be getting cheese twice a day. Yippee!!! I LOVE cheese! Now I'm going to go to bed and dream about cheese. Yummy!

My Dad...
Why doesn't my Dad understand that I just want to sit on his chest or shoulders. He is my chair and I'm just not content unless I get to sit exactly where I want. If he doesn't accommodate my wishes, well then, I'll just go sit on the couch by myself. Whatever!

It's F-R-I-D-A-Y!
You wouldn't think that I'd know when Friday was, and yet... somehow I do. Maybe it's the way Mom & Dad are all happy when they get home. Or, maybe I've figured out some sort of pattern.
I had a day much like most. Dad gets up at 4:30, we go outside. Then we get to go back to bed with Mom until she's ready to get up. I like that. I'm not a big fan of getting up early. Once we're up, we go out again... then we get a biscuit. It's so awesome. I get really excited over biscuits. I even do this funny little hippity-hop dance. It's my way of asking Mom to hurry up with that biscuit already.
After Mom heads off to work, Ruben & I do what we do best. NAP! Then we get up, move around a bit, do some stretching and it's back to, you guessed it... more napping. We have to store up lots of energy so we can greet Dad when he gets home. We shower him in kisses and then follow him around until he settles into his recliner. Ruben has his favorite spot on Dad's chair and so do I.
We also usually know when Mom should be home from work. Ruben sits in the window and just waits and watches. I just listen for her. Boy, when we hear the car pull up, we really get excited. We save plenty of kisses for Mom too. She loves all the kisses we give her when she gets home.
Tonight I played some tug-of-war with Mom and Bo-Bo (one of my favorite toys). After that, well, I'm ready for another nap and snuggle time.

About me…
My name is Sabrina Faire. I am 4 years old.
I was adopted when I was 8 weeks old. The very first time I laid eyes on them, I just knew they were going to be mine… forever.
I was as cute and adorable as I could possibly be and I’m pretty sure I had them sold on me. Then the lady asked when my birthday was (Dec. 3) and that sealed the deal. She & I shared the exact same birthday. How cool is that? They took me home right away… my new Mom & Dad.
I was quickly introduced to my brother, Ruben. He was a funny one right off the bat. For the first week, all he really would do was stare at me. I’m pretty sure he was wondering when I would go back to where I came from. He wouldn’t play with me, just snubbed me, mostly. Then, suddenly, I think he realized I was here to stay and he started to warm up to me.
Occasionally people refer to me as something called a D-O-G (whatever that is), but my Mom is always calling me her “baby girl”. I’m sure that is what I am… a baby girl.
Over the years, Ruben & I have become very close. Neither one of us likes it when the other one is away. If, I even think I am home alone, for any reason… I can create quite a vocal ruckus. (I have been known to howl.) Hey, don’t judge… Ruben doesn’t like it either.
Ruben & I both prefer it when Mom & Dad are home. We just love hanging out with them. Especially, when we’re doing absolutely nothing. Our favorite thing in life is to cuddle up on their laps.
I’ve got lots of things to say, so come back and see what I’m up to from time to time.
